Mark & Nia appeared in my life as if by magic! A very good photographer friend had recommended me to them and when we first met to chat over plans about their Principal York Hotel Wedding I could tell that we would be a good fit for each other.
Family and friends travelled to York from all over the uk to celebrate Mark & Nia's day with them and the atmosphere from start to finish was pure excitement! (some cheeky shots and a hip flask helped too)
The weather in York wasn't that kind to us that day but we ducked and dived in and out of the Principal York during the dry spells for pictures and everyone involved were serious troopers because it wasn't the warmest day I've ever known!
Over to Mark to talk you through the big day...
The Day Itself: Our wedding day was the culmination of, possibly, the most hectic year of our lives. we moved house in July had our second beautiful baby at the end of July, set up a business and then got married...crazy!
We wanted our day to be as relaxed and special as possible, we chose The Principle York Hotel to tie the knot, we adored the history of the building, the grandness of the hotel itself and the beautiful decor.
We had originally planned to get married in Florence but it was all too much, we both love York, the history, quirky streets and shops and couldn't think of a better place to carry on our memories.
The actual day was a blur, whilst taking in the big occasion and mingling with friends and family we also had our two beauties keeping us occupied, add to this a few glasses of champagne and you have a great recipe for a memorable day and we wouldn't have had it any other way.
The Styling: This was definitely all Nia's doing....I stayed well clear, although she did give me one job that was to get the ties...naturally I forgot and the pair of us were running through the streets of York the evening before our big day!
I have to say she did an amazing job, whilst juggling a 18 month old, pregnant and all the other crazy things we were doing she managed to create a beautiful wedding. knowing her as I do the inspiration was definitely sparkle and glam, but all done quite subtly. She is like a magpie and cant resist anything that sparkles.
The colour scheme was midnight blue and rose gold, the flowers were kept quite neutral, and looked beautiful against the deep blue of the bridesmaids and copper fairy light tied it all together.
