Manchester Hall Wedding Photography - Holly & John

Holly & Johns Manchester Hall Wedding...

"I have no words...the photos are incredible! Thank you so much for capturing our special day, you’ve captured every moment, every smile and I’m so so happy with them. Currently John is selecting photos for his insta and I’m selected ones to frame! (Priorities!)

Thank you for being the dream photographer! "

Being a part of this classy low key wedding at Manchester all was a dream. Holly & John wanted a relaxed vibe from start to finish and they absolutely achieved it. Paying attention to what was most important to them as a couple... bringing people together and having a right good time...

How they met:

We met on a night out – a student night to be precise. I was in my final year of university and john was way too old to be out on a student night!! (I think 27)  We chatted a little but didn’t exchange numbers. The next day we were both tagged in a photo on facebook and  john commented on the photo of me with the comment  ‘check out that girl doing the Zoolander pose’ not knowing I would see this comment. Needless to say I didn’t take this lying down and commented back, we got chatting and the rest is history! (that photo still haunts me to this day- I was about 10 jagerbombs deep and trying to pose…I think!)

 The proposal:

John surprised me with a trip to Thailand for my 27th birthday we went for 3 weeks over Christmas and new year 2017. I had absolutely no idea he was going to propose because he is so bad at keeping secrets and I pack absolutely everything when we go away so he would struggle to hide anything from me! But somehow he did, he hide the ring in a bottle of vitamins (sneeky!) and proposed to me on new years eve on the beach as we watched the fireworks. It was all very romantic, but we were both pretty drunk so neither of us remember the proposal and went straight to bed after!

The venue:

I work in marketing and events so have hosted events or visited most venues across Manchester for previous events, which in some ways is a hindrance. Because of this  I really liked the idea of getting married at a new venue, Somewhere that could accommodate our whole wedding and be low key and relaxed. The venue overlooks the city and as long as the weather is nice it offers our guests the opportunity to look over the city and enjoy the outside space. They were also one of the only venues we found in Manchester that were really flexible in what we could do, no set packages which was great because we really wanted to design our own menus and put our own touches on the wedding.

On the day styling:

Its very low key, relaxed and informal. We designed the menu to be sociable and interactive – theres definitely a Spanish vibe to the menu, my parents spend most of their year in their house in Mallorca these days eating some amazing food so they have been a big influence– we have gorgeous sharing platers to start, a selection of tapas for mains and then churros and a shot of licor 43 to finish! Theres alcohol served at every opportunity, with bottomless jugs of sangria for guests with food and cava throughout. (johns influence of course!)

The décor is sleek and simple – greenery for flowers, copper pipe signage, white balloons with silk ribbon and handmade concrete coasters for the favours. I started making the coasters in September last year so it’s been a labour of love to finish them but the individual rose gold initials really personalise them and they double up as a place setting! The vibe is low key, clean and natural, we aren’t a fussy couple and glitter and elaborate flowers would have felt out of character.

The dress:

Again my dress is clean and simple, it’s a crepe form fitting high neck dress with very low back and intricate vintage beading at the back. I have a full length veil to match. I tried on so many dresses and I just knew as soon as I saw this one on the hanger it was the one.

My dress is by Maggie Sottero and I purchased it from Sense and Sensibility in stockport. The girls in there are great, very laid back and no fuss which is just what I needed after visiting 5 other stores which wouldn’t let me pick out dresses which I liked and instead put me in strapless princess gowns because they thought they would suit me! Yuck!!!

The Men:

John is wearing a simple blue linen mix suit from Reiss, with a pale grey waistcoat. He wanted something lightweight but versatile. I think comfort is everything to guys and of course hes already said he can wear it again!! *rolls eyes*

 The flowers:

The flowers are by Sassflower – Sasha does beautiful relaxed flowers with lots of greenery and unusual styling. I picked her for the flowers as she has a great eye, she puts flowers together which I have never seen before and just makes them work. We have gone we simple greenry mixed with some Dahlias and roses – no real colour, all natural and of course finished with gorgeous hand dyed silk ribbon from silk and purl

Music:

Our first dance will be songbird by eva Cassidy which is dedicated to johns mum who passed away a few years ago.
