A winter wedding at Styal Lodge | Vesta & Liz

Vesta & Liz's Styal Lodge Winter Wedding

When I met Vesta & Liz for the first time it turned out we had lots of mutual friends but hadn't realised this when they booked me and on the day itself it was so nice seeing lots of familiar faces again.

Weddings at Styal Lodge

It was my first time photographing a wedding at Styal Lodge and what a wedding it was. From start to finish it was such an emotional day. Not only could you feel the love Vesta & Liz had for each other but you could feel it from all of their family and friends as well.

Styal Lodge in the winter is beautiful... The frost had kissed all of the greenery and we caught the most amazing sunset for their portraits.

Fairy lights illuminated the venue (which I LOVE) and coupled with the autumnal colours the couple had chosen Styal Lodge really impressed me!

The girls had provided guests with stones to draw on as a memory of their day and I absolutely loved the idea. I am an absolute sucker for a keepsake and wedding details that have a story or meaning.

Dog Friendly Wedding Venue

Jd & Dougal were guests of honour at Styal Lodge on the day and they took their roles very seriously! Looking cute and showering their mummies with lots of love and kisses!

I asked the ladies some questions about their day...

TELL ME ABOUT HOW THE TWO OF YOU MET:

POF! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO FOR A DOG WALK BUT IT WAS POURING. SO WE STAYED IN THE RED LION IN WINSFORD FOR OPEN MIC DAY. THEN WENT FOR A STROLL ALONG THE RIVER UNDERNEATH THE GLOW OF WINSFORD SALT MINES. VERY ROMANTIC!

TELL ME ABOUT WHO PROPOSED AND HOW IT HAPPENED:

Vesta beat Liz to it. She was impatient, the ring had been delivered and she couldn't keep her mouth shut so after Liz finished Badminton she proposed. Liz then rang Cath (who had just dropped her off) to "bring that thing she was keeping". When Cath got back to the house, Liz opened the door a crack, took the ring off her and then slammed the door in her face "see you tomorrow!". Then Liz proposed.

TELL ME ABOUT HOW AND WHY YOU CHOSE YOUR WEDDING VENUE:

Its so pretty and it smells of wood!

TELL ME ABOUT HOW YOU HAVE STYLED YOUR DAY - WHAT DETAILS ARE IMPORTANT AND IF YOU HAVE GONE WITH A THEME:

I'm still trying to get Harry potter in there....its just rustic? Think oak barn wedding with lots of gin bottles

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DRESS - WHO ITS MADE BY - WHERE YOU GOT IT FROM - WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE IT?:

Liz got hers from Gwen's Wedding Services, 48 West Main Street, Broxburn EH52 5RJ. It made her feel amazing! Vesta has two wedding dresses, one she hates and is trying to sell and one she loves! (long story!) The one she loves is from Edith & Winston Bridal wear, 4a Princess Street, Knutsford, WA16 6DD (but this is now closed!)

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FLOWERS : WHO MADE THEM AND WHY YOU CHOSE THE ONES YOU HAVE :

Special Days Events, Jill Norton @jillnflowers Vesta really loves a miss piggy rose because of the name, autumnal/winter design

TELL ME ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN FOR TRANSPORT AND WHY:

Liz will be at the venue, Vesta is still undecided on transport...it may just be a taxi!

WHAT IS YOUR CAKE LIKE AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE DESIGN?

We're having a naked rainbow cake made by Stephanie Yapp (friend) and lots of cupcakes made by Mandy Earlam (friend)

HAVE YOU BOOKED ANY ENTERTAINMENT?

Yes we have a barn dance in the evening!
