Natural & relaxed newborn photography

Those early days of having a newborn go by in a flash don’t they! A blur of newness, sleepless nights, visitors, snuggles, feeding…such wonderful days when you’ve become a family for the first time or have had a wonderful new addition to your gang.

I absolutely adore newborn photography sessions because I’ve been there, I know how amazing those early days are and I want to capture those memories for you. It’s a moment in time where your entire world has changed but you can’t pause and take it in or absorb what’s going on.

Just imagine in a year from now how amazing it will be to look back on a collection of photographs that tell the story of those early days.

To truly document the first few days of your new baby’s life my Newborn sessions are a mixture of styled portraits and lifestyle photography.

With the styled portraits I’ll gently direct you so we can get some lovely photographs of you all together. I promise you this isn’t anything overly posed or affected. I know how awkward and difficult it can feel to have photographs taken, especially after you’ve just given birth, so I guide you into the most flattering poses that will show you all off to your very best.

The rest of the time will move away from posed photographs and I’ll document you all together as well as the all important details of a new baby – those tiny fingers and toes, a cute button nose!

The entire shoot takes place at your home so you’re all at your most comfortable and relaxed. Plus you don’t have to leave the house with the truckloads of ‘stuff’ that a newborn needs!

FAQs

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

The main thing is comfort. Make sure you choose an outfit that makes you feel good and that will shine through in your photos. Keep it simple with a similar colour palette for everyone. Avoid any huge logos and Neon!

WE HATE HAVING OUR PHOTO TAKEN

Don’t panic! Firstly I’ve never met anyone who loves having their photo taken so you’re not alone! Secondly, I have skills! These skills of mine produce amazing, natural photographs without you even knowing I’ve taken a picture. Most importantly I make the whole process relaxed and easy for you. Speak to any of my past families and they will tell you exactly how much fun it is to be in front of my lens!

HOW LONG AFTER OUR SESSION DO WE GET THE PHOTOS?

After your photo session, the first thing I do is back up all of your memories. I will then send you an email to let you know when you should expect to receive your gallery. Family & Newborn photographs are typically delivered within 2 weeks but can sometimes be longer. I will always keep you in the loop though.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE GET?

The amount of photos each family receive varies due to lots of factors. The minimum gallery size is typically between 50-100 images depending on what style of photo session you opt for. I have sample galleries to look at so just give me a shout and I can direct you to them to have a nosy.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes! I have public liability insurance and I also ensure all my cameras and kit. I have everything in place to make sure that should a situation arise we are covered.

WHAT IF WE ARE ILL OR THE WEATHER IS BAD?

Don’t worry, We can always reschedule. When booking I will require a booking fee to secure the date of your session however this can be transferred twice due to illness. If you needed to reschedule again then a new booking fee would be required.

CAN I BRING EXTENDED FAMILY?

For newborn sessions ideally it would just be those living in your household but for family sessions any grandparents, aunts or uncles are more than welcome. Just let me know prior to the day so can put a plan in place on any groupings you could like.

DO WE GET COPYRIGHT?

I retain the copyright of all my work. With your gallery you get printing rights which means you can print all of your photos as many times as you like. Just please don’t sell them on.
