Sarah & Gareth’s Hidden River Cabins wedding…

“They’re perfect! We’ve laughed hysterically and cried. I cant thank you enough. You nailed it”

It might not have been the wedding day that Sarah & Gareth has planned but it was still the most amazing day. 2020 may have slashed guest lists and stripped weddings back but it definitely hasn’t stopped couples from having their own versions of a ‘Pandemic Wedding’ Thats how Sarah describes her day! Stripped back but lacking absolutely nothing. There was so much laughter, a few tears (mainly from me after Gareth was so lovely about me in his speech) and shit loads of rain!! Rain does not stop play though… Take a look at the magic we created with an umbrella and a couple willing to brave it!

Some words from Sarah…

Tell me how you booked your wedding venue:

Upon getting engaged, the first thing we did was outline guest numbers. The second thing was that Gareth downloaded a full list of licensed wedding venues from the council websites, painstakingly going through them for venues that gave the right numbers. We saw several within a few months and although some were ok, they weren’t quite… right… Then Hidden River Cabins came along, they were in the process of building a 250 capacity barn, exactly the style we were after, set in the middle of nowhere with plenty of classiness to boot. It was lovely and we booked it shortly after.

Tell me about how you have styled your day – what details are important and if you have gone with a theme:

We’ve gone with a minimalist “pandemic” theme. The barn itself has a huge amount of the style we are going for, our little touches in table decorations and flowers will just give it that little bit of customisation to make it “ours”

Tell me about your wedding dress – who its made by – where you got it from – what made you choose it?:

the dress is designed by Anny Lin and I got it from Foxglove Brides in Walton le Dale. I had no idea what I wanted for a dress, I had tried a few dresses on before going to Jayne at Foxglove but to be honest I felt ridiculous in all of them. Then I met Jayne and as soon as I put ‘the’ dress on I didn’t feel self conscious or silly, it was the detail in the dress and the fact that I hadn’t seen anything like it before that really caught my eye and then once I had it on and realised I could move really easily in it I was sold; perfect dress to look like a bride and dance in! (not that we will be dancing now but that was the original plan, to dance all night long!)

Tell me about your flowers : Who made them and why you chose the ones you have :

The flowers are arranged by Lindsay of Blossom & Bloom in Thornhill. We have gone for a burgundy autumnal colour scheme, this is to match both the bridesmaid’s dresses, as well as the season itself.

What is your cake like and why did you choose the design?

It’s three tiers with a sparkly middle tier, at the very top we will have a cake topper, three cakey humans and a rainbow held by the smallest cakey human, Elysia.

If you’re you’re getting married at Hidden River Cabins and still looking for a wedding photographer give me a shout!
